Last weekend the season finale of Kaiju No. 8 aired in Japan and streamed worldwide. With anime, we usually find out whether or not we’re getting more episodes when the finale airs, and the news came in typical fashion: a “sequel series” is on the way. The language in Crunchyroll’s press release calls this a “sequel,” not a “second season”….we’re not sure what that is about but we’re preserving the terminology in case it means something. The dub version of Kaiju No. 8 is two weeks behind and will premiere its version of the season finale July 13. No current release window has been revealed for the “sequel.” In a world where kaiju are constantly emerging and causing chaos, civilization’s most vital organization are the members of the Anti-Kaiju Defense Force. It’s Kafka Hibino’s biggest dream to join the force, but he’s failed every entry test he’s taken. YES! Sequel for Kaiju No. 8! This is exactly the kind of news I need after a long week of adulting. Sure, I haven't finished season 1 yet (adulting is a struggle!), but knowing there's more to come is a great motivator. Plus, Kaiju No. 8 is such a perfect blend of action and humor, it's the ideal way to unwind after a stressful day.

It's about time! The anime is finally catching up to the manga! I can't wait to see how they handle adapting some of my favorite scenes in the sequel. Just hope they don't rush things or skip over any important details. There's so much going on in the manga
