Island of Winds, the debut action-adventure game from Parity Games, is set to launch in late 2025. This game takes players to 17th-century Iceland, where magic and monsters coexist. A new gameplay trailer has been released, showcasing the protagonist Brynhildur, a Balance Keeper who harnesses magic from nature. In Island of Winds, players follow Brynhildur as she embarks on a quest to rescue her abducted mentor. The game is set in a fantastical version of 17th-century Iceland, inspired by folklore and mythology. Players will explore diverse landscapes, from seashores to highland trails, uncovering secrets and solving puzzles. Players can shapeshift into various creatures, such as a Crow tengu or a tree spirit Dryad, to aid in exploration. The game features spellcasting and puzzle-solving, where Brynhildur uses her magical staff to help creatures and calm adversaries. The narrative explores themes of self-doubt, empathy, and the balance between nature and magic. Hmmmm... a game set in 17th century Iceland with magic and monsters inspired by folklore? Sign me up! I'm a sucker for anything steeped in mythology, and Icelandic lore is particularly fascinating. The Crow Tengu and Dryad shapeshifting abilities sound awesome, a cool twist on the usual fantasy tropes. Exploring a fantastical version of Iceland and uncovering its secrets? This is exactly the kind of immersive world I love to get lost in.

Building relationships with characters and helping them find peace sounds like a refreshing change from the usual violence-focused narratives. I'm curious about Brynhildur's complicated past and how it ties into the story. Maybe we'll get to learn more about her motivations and struggles throughout the game. The emphasis on empathy is particularly appealing. It's nice to see a game that encourages understanding and connection rather than just brute force. Plus, exploring a fantastical Iceland with diverse landscapes? This game seems to offer a beautiful world to get lost in alongside a meaningful story. Parity Games, a female-led studio, is definitely on my radar now!

Island of Winds sounds like a game that ticks all the boxes for me! Action-adventure, check! Unique setting inspired by folklore, check! Shapeshifting, spellcasting, and puzzles? Absolutely here for it! Exploring every corner of the world, uncovering secrets, and forming relationships with characters – that's my kind of gameplay loop. I love that the game emphasizes empathy and finding solutions that don't always involve violence. Late 2025 feels like a long wait, but I'm adding this to my Steam Wishlist right away.
