Indie developer 14 Hours Productions has released a charming little throwback title to Steam today. Yolk Heroes: A Long Tamago is what they call an “idle RPG” — meaning you’re in an overseer position where you can make decisions, but you can’t truly control what your characters do. Perhaps the term “pet sim” will be more familiar….the Tamagotchi of the late 90s was an idle RPG, and this has a lot of intentional similarities. Yolk Heroes: A Long Tamago is kind of a blend between those digital pets of old and the Dragon Quest games. You’re a queen fairy who needs to raise an army to defeat her nemesis, the Frog Lord. The raising of this army will be literal, as you hatch elves from eggs and raise them to adulthood, feeding them a nutritious diet and teaching them how to fight. The game runs when you’re not around, using your PC’s internal clock to judge the time since your last play. Using this system, you can queue up tasks
