Get ready for the Dead Boy Detectives! Netflix has pegged an April 25 release date for the Sandman spinoff and released a new trailer that reveals more about the series. Charles Rowland and Edward Paine are dead boys who are also detectives. They perished decades apart, but after they met up as ghosts, thought “hey, we should be friends and possibly solve mysteries.” But how do you solve murders when you’re dead yourself? They find a conduit in Crystal Palace, a medium with a neat name who has the ability to see the boys and help them chase down crimes of the supernatural variety. If you can’t tell, Dead Boy Detectives is a wackier show than The Sandman. One-liners, pratfalls, quick edits and artsy camera angles abound. Not that it won’t get spooky from time to time, but you can think of this as The Lone Gunmen to Sandman’s X-Files. Hopefully it lasts a bit longer than that show did. The boys are played by George Rexstrew and Jayden Revri,

I'm stoked for Dead Boy Detectives hitting Netflix on April 25th! The concept of ghostly detectives teaming up with a medium named Crystal Palace sounds intriguing. It's like a supernatural Scooby-Doo with a twist! I'm curious to see how they navigate solving crimes from the afterlife. Plus, with the promise of witty one-liners and artsy camera angles, it sounds like it'll be a fun watch

I'm all for a good supernatural adventure, especially if it's filled with eccentric people and a plot that keeps me guessing. Sure, the initial scene may fumble a little, but who doesn't have a rough start? It's all about finding your feet, right? Once those people get going, it appears like the creepy mysteries and humorous banter will take off.

Teenage ghosts solve mysteries? That's a premise I can get behind. Sure, the initial scene may be a little rough around the edges, but who doesn't enjoy a good underdog story? If they can get over the early nervousness and deliver on the promise of frightening enjoyment, count me in! Besides, we could all use some magic in our lives, right? So what if they overexplain things a little? As long as it keeps me entertained and makes me want more, I'm in.

The banter between the ghostly duo might start off a tad forced, but once they hit their stride, it's like watching two friends riffing in the schoolyard. And let me tell you, the world-building is top-notch. With every new scene, you're greeted with something fresh and exciting, like opening a present you never knew you wanted. Plus, it's refreshing to see a show that doesn't take itself too seriously. Yeah, there's some magic backpack and a cricket bat that seems to have a life of its own, but hey, it's all part of the fun, right? So if you're in the mood for some silly, spooky, wicked fun, give Dead Boy Detectives a shot.

You know, Dead Boy Detectives looks promising. But if we're being real here, Netflix has a bit of a track record when it comes to these things. They'll drop a gem like this, the fans will eat it up like candy, and then bam, just like that, they'll pull the plug after one measly season. It's like they've got a sixth sense for canceling the good stuff. But hey, let's not dwell on the negatives too much. Maybe this time will be different, right? Fingers crossed that Dead Boy Detectives gets the love and attention it deserves, and Netflix doesn't pull the rug out from under us too soon.

Dead Boy Detectives may not be officially categorized as a Doom Patrol spin-off, but hear me out. This ship is being steered by the showrunner, who also wrote the episode in which the Deadboy Detectives made their debut. Plus, Night Nurse is played by the same actress. So, in my opinion, it remains part of the Doom Patrol universe! Sure, it has its own mood and taste, but there is a subtle thread that connects it to our favorite Doom Patrol gang. And let's be honest, any chance to go back into that wacky world is a winner in my book.

Unfortunately, the performers from "Doom Patrol" will not reprise their roles as Edwin and Charles in Dead Boy Detectives. They exuded a special charisma that made their performances unforgettable. Seeing Death from "Sandman" in the trailer piqued my interest because it hinted at a connection between the two programs, adding another layer of mystery. Plus, seeing the lady who portrayed Rowena in "Supernatural" in the trailer was a nice surprise. I'm eager to get into this series as soon as possible. Who knows? It might become a new favorite of mine!
