Nintendo Reveals Mario's New Voice Actor

Two months ago, Charles Martinet announced he was stepping down from the role of Mario’s official voice, a position he’s held since 1993. But the announcement seemed to have come well after he’d actually left — the next big game to star Mario, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, has noticeably different-sounding voices for Mario and Luigi, and the first trailer was released prior to Martinet’s statement.

Well, you know, it could be worse, right? At least they're not getting Chris Pratt to voice Mario in the games, just in the movies. I mean, his casting as Mario in the movie was quite the boring garbage. Some people seem to adore his work, but others, like me, just can't help but raise an eyebrow. We've been so accustomed to Charles Martinet's legendary voice for years, and now we're handed Pratt, a guy primarily known for his live-action stints. It's an... interesting choice, to say the least. But hey, who knows? Maybe he'll dazzle us and knock our socks off. We'll have to wait and see how Kevin Afghani takes on the role of Mario in the games. It's a time of change for our mustachioed plumber, and I'm all ears to hear what Afghani's got up his sleeve for the Mario Universe.

You know, folks really need to cut Chris Pratt some slack. His voice acting is far better than when Megan Fox voiced Nitara. Megan Fox's voice acting, honestly, gives me seizures. At least Chris Pratt is tolerable in comparison. We all have our reservations, especially when it comes to beloved characters like Mario, but let's give the guy a chance. Who knows, he might just surprise us. Kevin Afghani has delivered great performances in games before. So, you sure it's better than Chris Pratt because he's an actual voice actor with experience in games.

I can't believe Charles Martinet won't be voicing Mario anymore. He's been the iconic voice of the character for so long, and I've grown up with his version of Mario. It's a bit sad to see him go. I've been playing Mario games for years, and his voice was such a big part of the experience. I'm not sure how I feel about Kevin Afghani taking over. I mean, I love Genshin Impact, but Mario is a different kind of character. It'll be interesting to see how he portrays our beloved plumber. I hope he can capture the essence of Mario that we all know and love. Change can be tough, but maybe it'll breathe new life into the character. We'll just have to wait and see when Super Mario Bros. Wonder comes out.

: This is a big deal for Mario fans like me. I've grown up listening to Charles Martinet's iconic voice as Mario, and it's kind of sad to see him step down. I'm not sure if Kevin Afghani will be able to capture that same magic, but I guess we'll find out when Super Mario Bros. Wonder is released. I hope they stay true to Mario's character!

I actually heard those different voices in the Super Mario Bros. Wonder trailer, and I was wondering who was behind them. It's cool to know it's Kevin Afghani, but I'm also a bit nostalgic about Charles Martinet. Change is inevitable, though, so let's give Kevin a chance.

Chris Martinet is not getting any younger. So, he's probably retiring because of his age. He probably wants the remaining days of his life to be spent with his loved ones.⁰

You make a good point. Charles Martinet has been the voice of Mario for so long; it's understandable that he might want to retire and enjoy his later years. It's essential that he gets to spend time with his loved ones. But I'll still miss his iconic voice in future Mario games.

, I can't believe they've changed Mario's voice actor after all these years! I mean, Charles Martinet was the voice of Mario for so long, and his iconic voice is what many of us grew up with. It's kind of bittersweet to see him go. I have mixed feelings about Kevin Afghani taking over the role. I mean, he's done some good work in Genshin Impact, but Mario is a beloved character, and it's hard to imagine someone else voicing him. I hope Afghani does justice to the character, but I'll definitely miss Martinet's voice.
