Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age Now Available On Switch & XBox One
Square promised that four of Final Fantasy’s greatest moments would go multiplatform before the spring was over. As of today, it has come to pass as Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy X / X2 and now Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age are freely available on Switch and XBox One.
Originally released in 2006 on the Playstation 2, Final Fantasy XII told the story of the struggle for the throne of the Kingdom of Dalmasca, and the perky street kid caught in the middle. The game is notable for being set in Ivalice, a location connected to several other Square games such as Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and Vagrant Story.
The “Zodiac Age” version of Final Fantasy XII was first released on Playstation 4 and contains enhancements beyond your typical HD conversion:
- License Reset Function: By talking to Clan Centurio’s leader Montblanc in Rabanastre, players can reset and change their party member’s jobs, allowing them to customize the jobs of their party as desired.
- Additional Gambit Sets: Gambits allow players to customize their party’s AI. Players can now create three unique sets, allowing players to switch between sets for different situations, such as map exploration or boss fights.
- Improved “New Game+”: Allows users to start the game with party members at level 90 and carry over some items like weapons, magic and gils obtained during previous playthroughs
- Specific to Xbox One X – Supports 60fps
If you’ve never played the game or you just want to relive it, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is now playable on all current consoles.
