She’s hungry for love…and it’s feeding time.

A pretty wild looking comedy-horror-romance-whatever just dropped its first trailer, and though it looks like it should be a Halloween movie, it’s actually aimed at the Valentine’s Day audience and won’t be released until February.

The Lisa of Lisa Frankenstein is a lonely teenage girl with a hopeless crush…not because the boy is out of her league but because he’s dead (and his body is stuffed in her shed). That’s when Lisa Swallows (sorry, her surname isn’t literally Frankenstein) gets the idea to reanimate him. Of course she has that ability, but the real challenge comes in keeping her new, shambling, grunting boyfriend under control.

Lisa Frankenstein is the brainchild of Diablo Cody, the same woman behind that Juno movie that became a weird textbook example of how fickle pop culture can be (everyone loved it as an underground cult flick, then they hated it when it became popular). Of course Cody also wrote that terrible script for the live-action Powerpuff Girls pilot that leaked out a couple years ago, so you never know what you’re getting from her. We get positive vibes from Lisa Frankenstein though. We love how the overall look of the film evokes the 1980s without being explicitly set in that period.

The film was also directed by Zelda Williams (yes, the one you’re thinking of) and stars Kathryn Newton (Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania) as Lisa and and Cole Sprouse (Riverdale) as Lisa’s undead crush. Lisa Frankenstein will terrorize the populace February 9.

OMG, I'm from the Philippines, and I am absolutely thrilled about this news! Liza Soberano making her Hollywood debut in this movie is a huge deal for us. It's fantastic to see a talented Filipino actress like her getting the recognition she deserves on the international stage. And the fact that she's playing Lisa's step-sister alongside Kathryn Newton, who plays Lisa, is just icing on the cake. Plus, Liza's biracial background makes her a perfect fit to portray a character who can pass as white. This movie just became even more exciting for me!

I'm from the Philippines as well, and I couldn't agree more. Liza Soberano's decision to cross over to Hollywood is one of the best moves in her career. In our industry, it's frustrating to see talented actresses relegated to older roles once they hit 30, if they haven't achieved superstar status. It's annoying that 30-year-olds are often cast as mothers of 20-year-old actors here. But in Hollywood, Liza gets to portray a teenager at the age of 27. It's a refreshing change, and I'm excited to see her shine on the international stage. Hollywood provides a broader range of roles and opportunities, and Liza deserves every bit of success she achieves there.

You know, this movie kind of reminds me of the early 2000s and late '90s horror film "May," where a woman tried to create her own best friend by dismembering people. But in this case, it seems like Lisa's monster just needs a new arm and probably some skin. It's a unique twist on the concept, and I'm curious to see how it plays out. Horror movies that take inspiration from the classics always have the potential to deliver some spine-tingling moments.

This is just bonkers! A horror-romance movie with a girl reanimating her crush? The concept is so out there, it might just work. I'm cautiously optimistic about it. Diablo Cody's track record is a bit hit-or-miss, but her knack for unique storytelling could make this a surprise hit. And directing by Zelda Williams? That's intriguing.

I was one of the fans of "Warm Bodies," and I got really upset when its sequel got canceled. However, "Lisa Frankenstein" seems like a spiritual successor in some ways, even though the movies are not related. I mean, it's not about zombies, but there's a certain attraction to the undead theme here. I've always found zombies oddly intriguing, and I'm not alone in thinking they can be kinda sexy in a unique way. So, even though I'll miss the "Warm Bodies" sequel, I'm excited to see what "Lisa Frankenstein" has in store for us zombie enthusiasts.

Lisa Frankenstein seems like a strange mix of genres. I appreciate the attempt to blend comedy, horror, and romance, but I'm not sure if it's my cup of tea. I'll wait to see some reviews before deciding whether to watch it.
