Expect A Lot More Will In Stranger Things 5

The latest edition of Variety features a cover interview with Noah Schnapp, best known for playing Will Byers on Stranger Things but also, apparently, the founder of a snack company that makes hazelnut spread (who knew). That’s one of the things the interview reveals, but it also drops a nugget of info for Season 5: its plot will heavily involve Will.

And it’s about time. Will is perhaps the most neglected, underdeveloped character of the Main Cast….due to circumstance. He was kidnapped for all of Season 1. He was possessed for most of Season 2. In that time frame, his peers all got character development arcs that fleshed out their personalities and defined what they are all about. Will has had to play catch-up ever since, and he hasn’t been given any real chance to do so. We still don’t truly know who Will is beyond his suggested personality and sexual orientation. He’s the quiet guy in the background; the shy, timid, closeted artist with the unfashionable bowl hair. He spent all of Season 4 in a car.

But Will’s got a connection to the Upside Down no one else has — not even El. He can sense when Big Bads like Vecna and the Mind Flayer are near; perhaps even what they’re thinking. And they, in turn, are likely aware of the advantage Will could provide in the coming war. He could be a focal point of the whole conflict — in fact, the Duffers are suggesting he is.

“Will really takes center stage again in [season] 5,” says Ross Duffer. “This emotional arc for him is what we feel is going to hopefully tie the whole series together. Will is used to being the young one, the introverted one, the one that’s being protected. So part of his journey, it’s not just sexuality, it’s Will coming into his own as a young man.”

The stage is set, and it’s time for the younger Byers boy to finally shine. Stranger Things 5 should be out in…I dunno, 2027 or something.

Time is so fast, these kids are so tiny and young when the show started now they are adults and one of them are about to get married but they still play kids on tv. Now the show is about to end in a positive note.

You know, I've always felt like Will was kind of left behind in the previous seasons. It's like he never got a chance to really show who he is. I mean, kidnapped in Season 1 and possessed in Season 2? That's rough. I'm excited that Season 5 seems to be focusing on him. It's about time he gets some character development. I'm curious to see how his connection to the Upside Down plays into the upcoming conflict. Will sensing those Big Bads is pretty cool! And it's not just about his sexuality; it's about him growing into his own person. Can't wait to see Will shine in the spotlight!

Looks like they're finally giving Will his time to shine. I've always felt bad for him – kidnapped and then possessed? That's just not fair. And while everyone else was getting their personalities fleshed out, he was kinda left behind. But now, it seems like Season 5 is all about him. I can't wait to see how his connection to the Upside Down plays into the story. Him sensing those bad guys is intriguing. Plus, it's not just about his sexuality; it's about him growing up and finding his place. Go, Will!

Man, I can't believe how far Stranger Things has come. If it had ended after Season 1, we wouldn't have known much about Will at all. He was kidnapped right from the start, and then in Season 2, he was possessed! It's like they kept throwing challenges his way. I'm glad they didn't give up on his character. It's taken a few seasons, but now it seems like Season 5 is finally giving him a chance to shine. That connection to the Upside Down is so intriguing. Who would've thought he could sense those Big Bads? And it's not just about his identity; it's about him growing up. Looking forward to seeing where they take his story!

Stranger Things, it's been a journey, no doubt. Sometimes I'm all in, transported back to the '80s, reliving that nostalgic vibe. Yet, there are moments when I'm like, "Come on, show, give Will a break!" I mean, kidnapped, possessed – the poor kid deserves some peace. As his buddies enjoy these character arcs, he's just there, in the background. But you know what? I'll miss this show when it ends. It's been like a time capsule to my past, and despite its flaws, it's a part of me. So yeah, Season 5, I'm ready – let's see Will shine and soak up every bit of that '80s magic while we still can.

After reading this Stranger Things 5 piece, I can't help but worry who will perish this time. The show has had its share of dramatic moments, and with the emphasis on Will, it appears that he is in grave danger. I mean, the Upside Down is no laughing matter, and his ability to detect Mind Flayer vibes may make him a target. But, hey, it's a TV program, so they may throw us a curveball and have a different character meet their end. I'm just hope it's not too heartbreaking for whoever it is. It's time to brace ourselves for another abstract of emotions
