EA Confirms Star Wars Battlefront 2

During an earnings call this week, Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen confirmed that Star Wars Battlefront 2 is in development (via Gamespot). The EA executive dropped some details on the game, saying that Star Wars Battlefront 2 will have “bigger an better worlds” than the original. It will also use content from “the new movies.”

Previously, Star Wars Battlefront only focused on content from the original Star Wars Trilogy, but it did have The Battle of Jakku DLC, which featured the planet Jakku from Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens.

It makes sense that EA is looking to make a follow-up to Battlefront. The reboot of the franchise released last year has shipped 14 million copies, and it sold above the publisher’s expectations for the game.

Regarding new Star Wars game, Jorgensen said the company wants to release at least one new Star Wars game every year for the next three to four years. The Battlefront sequel is due out next year, which would put its release sometime in 2017 or in EA’s fiscal year 2017. Another interesting tidbit is that Jorgensen revealed that the Star Wars game being developed by Visceral and Motive should come out the next year as well.

Star Wars Battlefront is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
