EA Announces Origin Access Service
Electronic Arts officially announced a new membership service for PC gamers that will be available on Origin called Origin Access. The new service officially went live today, and it will be hitting other regions soon. PC users will now be able to get Origin Access in the US, Canada, the UK and Germany.
The service is available for $4.99USD/€3.99/£3.99GBP a month, and will offer players access to a collection of PC games. Currently the service only has 15 games available, including Battlefield 4, Dragon Age: Inquisition, The Sims 3 and This War of Mine. EA is promising that more EA-branded titles and also titles from independent developers will be added to Origin Access in time. You can check out the full list of titles at Origin.com.
Players will have access to download full versions of PC games. Other Origin purchases will be available for a discounted rate. Here are some of the features available for Origin Access members:
- Play More – Explore The Vault where members can download and play full versions of more than a dozen great PC games.
- Play First –Play EA’s PC games for a limited time before they’re released. All your stats and progress carry over if you decide to buy the game.
- Play for Less – Save 10% on your Origin purchases – from full games and DLC to content packs and more.
It seems major content publishers having some sort of subscription or membership service is all the rage now. For an all-in-one member service, hopefully more games will be added to the collection soon. 15 games doesn’t seem quite that long if players are subscribing specifically for the collection. The Origin Access service is live now and available here. EA also released a launch video for Origin Access featuring Bill Nye, the Science Guy, which you can check out below.
