Dynamite Announces New Terminator Series

You ever wonder in The Terminator why the Machines only go after two people with the last name Connor exclusively? Surely that can’t be the only pair whose snuffing would turn the tide of history in Skynet’s favor, right? It took forty years, but the bots seem to have finally caught on. An upcoming anime series from Netflix will depict a Terminator sent back to eliminate a target in Japan, and Dynamite just announced a Terminator series that follows multiple Skynet robo-assassins across history.

The plans to kill Sarah Connor and her son John have failed, but that isn’t going to stop the genocidal Skynet. If at first it doesn’t succeed, it’s going to expand the theater of operations. There are still a few more avenues into the past to try that will allow it to eliminate the human resistance before it even starts. Skynet and its Terminators are determined to stamp out these pivotal figures in history before they lead to their processors being smashed into silicon shrapnel.

Dynamite’s new comic, which is simply called The Terminator, will be written by Declan Shalvey with artwork by Luke Sparrow. “The approach of this series is new situations, new dilemmas in each issue. Mostly done-in-one stories, but as the series progresses there may be some recognizable faces…We’re going for a more stripped-down, pulpy approach to the book. As innovative and groundbreaking as the first film was, it was also grounded in its environment, being noirish and moody as hell. An unstoppable force is coming to kill you, that’s the element of the franchise I want to lean into.”

The first issue of Dynamite’s The Terminator will arrive naked in a flash of lightning this October. Here are some pages in progress…

A new Terminator series about killer robots from the future? Uh, not sure this is the kind of story I need right now, what with all the advancements in artificial intelligence these days. I mean, I love Terminator movies as much as the next person, but they do make you think about the dangers of AI. Hopefully, this comic series won't glorify killer robots too much. Maybe it'll make a statement about the responsible development of AI.

This is so cool! A new Terminator comic? I mean, the movies were awesome, but comics are where it’s at for me. I hope they keep the action-packed vibe and don’t get too deep into the sci-fi mumbo jumbo. I’m more into the explosions and one-liners, you know? Can’t wait to see how they handle the different time periods. It’s like a history lesson with killer robots!

A new Terminator comic? Man, this takes me back. I remember watching the first one in theaters as a kid. It was mind-blowing. I hope this comic captures that same kind of excitement and suspense. I'm curious to see how they handle the new characters and storylines. As long as they stay true to the original spirit of the franchise, I'm in.

This is actually pretty cool. I’m interested in seeing how they’ll handle the tech aspect of the Terminators. It’s been a while since the movies came out, so I wonder what kind of advancements they’ll show in terms of AI and robotics. I hope they consult with some experts to make it realistic. I mean, we’re not that far off from having super-advanced robots, right?

A Terminator series exploring different points in history? That’s actually pretty interesting. I wonder how accurate they'll be with the historical details. It could be a fun way to learn about different time periods. I just hope they don’t go overboard with the sci-fi stuff and overshadow the historical elements.
