Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition Announced
Techland has announced that they will be offering a special, new edition of Dying Light to go along with the release of the game’s new DLC expansion, The Following, early next year. The Poland-based developer announced that Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition will be released next February, which features an enhanced version of the original game, the xpansion pack Dying Light: The Following, The Bozak Horde mode, the Be the Zombie mode, the Cuisine & Cargo challenge missions, the Ultimate Survivor Bundle and all the content updates released to date. The new enhanced edition will be available for $59.99.
Dying Light lead game designer Maciej Binkowski stated on the announcement: “We didn’t want to follow a beaten track and just re-release our game in a new wrapping with the current DLC added on. That’s why for the last half year we’ve been working on a ton of enhancements that we’re now going to make available to everyone. We’re adding bonus post-game content, a Nightmare difficulty level, nearly 100 new animations, new NPC models, advanced AI behaviors, and more. One year after the original release, Dying Light will be even bigger.”
Techland sees this version as an upgrade to the usual industry standard Game of the Year Editions that publishers will typically release. Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition will be available digitally and as a physical release at retail stores.
For current Dying Light players who might be annoyed that they are missing out on an enhanced version of the game, all current players will be able to download the new game enhancements to the original core game for free. Techland released the full list of changes which is available at this link.
Dying Light: The Following will also be available as a standalone DLC expansion on the same date as the Enhanced Edition. It will also be available as part of the Dying Light Season Pass. Both the expansion and Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition are due out on February 9, 2016 for Xbox One, PlayStation and Windows PC.
