Artix Entertainment’s AdventureQuest MMO has been charming online gamers for over 20 years. Now its characters are making a leap back in time to star in their own authentically 8-bit adventure, programmed for the Nintendo Entertainment System (and originally released as a fully functional NES cart). It’s Dungeons & DoomKnights!
Our lead hero (?) Artix returns home on a flying dragon to find…his home no longer exists. It’s been destroyed! Not only that, there’s an army of skeletons roaming around, and locals say the DoomKnight may have been responsible. What can Artix do but take up his axe, whistle for his loyal Pomeranian and venture out to lay the smack down on the undead?
“We’re thrilled to be working with [publisher] Nami Tentou on this release,” says creator Adam Bohn. “It really is the very best way to experience AdventureQuest 8-Bit: Dungeons & DoomKnights … other than playing on an original NES, that is!”
Previously an NES exclusive, Dungeons & Doomknights is now available on Steam and in the Nintendo Switch eShop. The Switch version is currently 25% off for a limited time. Look for an interview on Popgeeks with series creator Bohn and lead programmer Dale Coop later this week.
