DOOM Multiplayer Mode Receives Update Today

It looks like DOOM’s multiplayer mode has received a nice overhaul today. Bethesda Softworks announced that a new update has been released for the game’s multiplayer mode today on the company’s community forums. The game launched less than a month ago. In addition, DOOM is set to receive another update later this month.

The multiplayer improvements for today’s update include some new weapon rebalances based on player feedback for the Chaingun, the Rocket Launcher and the Combat Shotgun. The wait time has also been reduced between matches to 60 seconds. Finally, Clan Arena and Freeze Tag now require the winning team to complete five rounds in order to win the match. The multiplayer improvement update is set to go live today at 10:30 ET, and it’s a server-side update that won’t require a download. However, the update is going to require a server outage.

Bethesda and id Software also revealed some of the details for the next update due out later this month. This new update will include a number of gameplay improvements, as well as the addition of Photo Mode. Here’s a look at the new changes:

  • Added Photo Mode for taking in-game screenshots.
  • Added Classic DOOM weapon placement/view model option (1st person view option)
  • Added new Snapmap features (including skybox windows) and AI pathing and logic fixes.
  • Fixed various bugs including players accidentally triggering Dev Mode and Trophy/Achievement bugs (IDKFA, Every Nook and Cranny).

There will apparently be additional improvements and fixes for the new update that will be revealed later. DOOM is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
