DOOM: Closed Beta Kicks Off March 31
DOOM fans who are wanting a chance to check out the game ahead of its May release are in luch. Bethesda Softworks and id Software officially announced today that a Closed Beta for DOOM will run in March and April. The Closed Beta is set for March 31 – April 3 and will be available for all platforms. The Closed Beta is available for players who pre-ordered Wolfenstein: The New Order and redeemed their Beta code. You can also check out the new multiplayer gameplay trailer to celebrate the closed beta announcement below.
The multiplayer beta will feature two maps from the game, Heatwave and Infernal. The two modes that will be available are Team Deathmatch and Warpath. The beta will also feature some new weapons, armor sets, taunts and hack modules. It will start at 10:00 pm Eastern Time (UTC – 5) on March 31 and end at 11:59 pm Eastern Time (UTC – 5) on April 3.
It’s good that Bethesda finally got around to arranging the Closed Beta for DOOM. The game was showcased at the Bethesda Softworks presentation at last year’s E3, but there was nothing on the show floor to get excited about. This will at least give players some access to the game to play it beforehand. Hopefully, an open beta session might also become available shortly before the game’s release as well.
The Closed Beta for DOOM will be playable for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC. More details on the beta are available at this link. The game arrives worldwide on May 13 for the same aforementioned platforms. The game will feature numerous multiplayer modes, a single-player campaign and the new DOOM SnapMap game editor, which will allow players to create, play and share their DOOM content with the world.
