Destiny Will Finally Feature Sparrow Racing League
The Sparrows are the rides of the Guardians of the City in the world of Destiny. However, besides a slightly faster means of travel, the Sparrows don’t really add much to the overall gameplay. You can’t do very much with them, except some random stunts and animations. Some can get overdrive afterburners. Now, if you could actually race other Guardians in the vehicles, that might be interesting. However, that was never the case with the Sparrows until now. Activision and Bungie have officially announced the Sparrow Racing League, a new gameplay event, for Destiny: The Taken King. The special event was announced this weekend at the 2015 PlayStation Experience in San Francisco, California.
Unfortunately, the Sparrow Racing League will only be a limited time event for Destiny. It starts in just a few days on December 8, where players will be able to compete in a six-person death race through enemy territory. Sparrow Racing was a much requested gameplay mode, but it’s finally arrived. The event will last for three weeks and end on December 29.
Based on the Sparrow Racing League trailer, the tracks for the races will be on Mars and Venus. It looks like the Guardians will have new racing uniforms. In addition, enemies look like they will be filling the tracks to make things more difficult for the racers. The new racing mode is definitely an added plus and certainly adds some more depth to Destiny’s gameplay. Hopefully Bungie will think of more creative events like this for Destiny in the future.
In addition, Bungie revealed a limited timed exclusive quest for Destiny that PlayStation players will have access to when Sparrow Racing launches in three days. You can watch a trailer for the Sparrow Racing League event below.
