Demon Slayer: Mugen Train Now Heads To Funimation Streaming Channel
When Demon Slayer: Mugen Train opened in theaters last April, no one knew what to expect. The pandemic and a movie industry just beginning to recover meant the box office estimates for this movie could not be predicted, even though it raked in over 300 million dollars in Japan.
Turned out there was nothing to worry over. The movie wound up doing VERY well in the States, staying in the Top Ten for weeks upon weeks and earning $43,956,487 in just its first month. The next stop this train makes will be home distribution. Where will you be able to find it?
Where else? Since Funimation owns the US distribution rights and put the movie in theaters to begin with, they have exclusive streaming rights as well. You’ll only be able to stream Demon Slayer: Mugen Train (or Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train, to use its full title) on the Funimation streaming service. Both the sub and dub versions will be available.
“Demon Slayer: Mugen Train has been a runaway success since it opened last year, galvanizing fans and attracting a whole new generation to anime,” says Asa Suehira, Chief Content Officer for Funimation Global Group. “We know Funimation fans are eager to experience the electrifying story again, and we’re thrilled to add it to our service. With the addition of the movie, fans can take a deep dive into the franchise watching the first season of the television series, three special television episodes and now the feature-length film from their homes or on the go.”
The regular Demon Slayer series is also on Funimation, though in that case you don’t need that specific service, as it’s on Netflix too. Demon Slayer: Mugen Train will premiere on Funimation this coming Tuesday, June 22.
