With another Super Bowl usually comes a wave of new movie trailers, some for films that aren’t due for ten months (maybe we’ll get to Wicked, maybe we won’t) but the one we were waiting for was Deadpool 3, now called Deadpool And Wolverine. And it didn’t take very long in the game for us to get it.
It’s Wade’s birthday and all his friends are there to celebrate, including the ones that met violent deaths in Movie #2 yet Wade casually undid during the mid-credits sequence. Now that he’s under the proper MCU umbrella and not “Marvel licensed by Fox” (in the words of Fred Savage) that means he has the TVA from Loki to deal with now. Maybe he can’t get away with as much as he could before? Nah, he’s Deadpool, he doesn’t care and he’ll do it anyway.
But as the TVA explains, his true purpose is to actually SAVE the MCU — how he does that is unclear at this time, but we definitely know it involves teaming up with an ornery man who has retractable metal claw implants. We don’t see Hugh Jackman in the role here, but leaked photos from the set have him in his comics-accurate, classic yellow suit.
Ryan Reynolds returns as the Merc with a Mouth alongside Jackman. Marvel has not released a full cast list (for the reason that there may be a few surprises) but from the trailer alone, we know we’re getting Stefan Kapičić as Colossus, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Shioli Kutsuna as Nega’s girlfriend Yukio, Randal Reeder as Buck, Lewis Tan as Shatterstar and Rob Delany as “Peter” from Deadpool’s ill-fated X-Force.
Deadpool And Wolverine will be released July 26.
