Dead By Daylight’s New Killer Is Two In One
For quite a while now, the additions to the multiplayer horror game Dead By Daylight have been pre-existing characters from other horror franchises. But next month they’ll be adding their first original character in a while…or two, actually.
Say hello to Charlotte and Victor Deshayes. Born as conjoined twins in the 17th century, they were hunted by a superstitious community that didn’t understand them. They wound up being shipped to a dark temple where they were experimented on until Victor died. But The Entity (the main villain and force behind the game’s lore) resurrected Victor, gave him the ability to separate from Charlotte, and sent the pair to work for him. Now they wreak angry vengeance on anyone unlucky enough to cross their path.
Controlling Victor/Charlotte means controlling both characters at once. Victor seeks out Survivors while Charlotte roams around with her hook (Victor will do this automatically if you don’t control him). Victor can attack Survivors but not kill them — he needs Charlotte to deliver the killing blow, but he can hold the player down until Charlotte arrives. If Victor/Charlotte are after you, incapacitating Victor will stop Charlotte as well and give you a chance to escape. He will always regrow back to “normal,” however.
Dead By Daylight is an asymmetrical horror game where one character plays the killer and four others play the would-be victims in its vicinity. The killer has invulnerability and can never truly be stopped, and depending on what character it is, may also have special abilities. The way to win is to escape, and to do so, the survivors must work together to unlock the path to freedom. Dead By Daylight is available now on consoles, PC, and mobile.
