D&D’s Twenty-Sided Tavern Brings On Some Familiar Guests

Dungeons & Dragons: The Twenty-Sided Tavern is a production that’s been running in New York these past few months. Officially licensed by Wizards of the Coast, it’s enough of a success that the run in NYC has been extended and a nationwide tour is being planned.

Twenty-Sided Tavern is a liveplay D&D campaign that’s truly live: each member of the audience loads a browser-based app called Gamiotics that allows them to vote on which way the story will go next. They vote on what characters appear, what they encounter, and what incidents befall them. There are even moments when members of the audience are invited upstage to participate in games like trivia, charades, and Fantasy Beer Pong.

Now, to show there’s no burning competition in the Actual Play scene, other players from more famous tabletop groups are stopping by. Aabria Iyengar, who has appeared on Dimension 20, Critical Role and The Adventure Zone, will appear in Twenty-Sided Tavern’s show from September 26 to October 7.  Erika Ishii, who has appeared on Dimension 20 and Critical Role, will be the special guest from December 5 through the 17. And the grandmother of Actual Play, Felicia Day, who was doing this thing way before it was considered “cool” with The Guild, will join the tavern from September 19 through the 24.

“We are honored that these three massively talented performers have accepted our invitation to come play with us this fall,” says Executive Producer and Co-Creator David Carpenter. “It’s been our dream from the beginning that we would be able to invite D&D friends from across the country to share the stage with us and these three brave adventurers have accepted the call. Audiences are going to get to see three of their favorite performers do a whole new style of D&D live on stage. It’s going to be absolutely magical.”

Tickets are available now for Felicia’s performances (Sept 19 – 24), Aabria’s performances (Sept 26 – Oct 7) and Erika’s performances (Dec 5 – 17). Living or visiting New York is unfortunately required to see them. The U.S. National Tour for Dungeons & Dragons: The Twenty-Sided Tavern will launch May 2025 with the full list of tour cities to be announced at a later time.
