Curse Of Chucky Premieres October 3
Jason, Freddy and Michael Myers are all sitting around with stalled careers. But Chucky, the ginger doll possessed by a maniacal madman, has become the only character from the golden age of slashers to continue appearing in films to this day, without a single reboot. This Halloween he’ll star in his seventh movie, Curse of Chucky. The first trailer was released this morning. We’ll get to Chucky X: Adventures In Space eventually.
Chucky movies are pretty much aimed at the direct-to-video market these days — this one won’t even get a theatrical release. What it does have going for it, though, is a reunion of all the characters and elements from Chucky films past. The original protagonist of the Child’s Play trilogy, Andy Barclay, returns in this movie. So does Tiffany, Chucky’s plastic galpal from when he took over the series. Of course you can’t have Chucky without his one and only voice actor, Brad Dourif, supplying the pipes — and this time, the central character of Curse of Chucky is played by his daughter.
Confined to an asylum for the criminally insane for the past four years, Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif) is erroneously convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when her psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic “tool” to facilitate his patients’ group sessions — an all-too-familiar “Good Guy” doll with an innocently smiling face — a string of grisly deaths begins to plague the asylum, and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn’t crazy after all. Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent), Chucky’s now-grown-up nemesis from the original Child’s Play, races to Nica’s aid. But to save her he’ll have to get past Tiffany (Oscar®-nominee Jennifer Tilly), Chucky’s long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll.
Chucky is back and feeling stabby October 3. There is both a Green Band and a Red Band trailer embedded below, the Red one first:
