Netflix has had an excellent summer so far with the premieres of GLOW and the Castlevania cartoon, but they don’t want you to forget Stranger Things. It was around this time last year the original season premiered and became the streaming outlet’s biggest cultural hit to date. In a few months it’s coming back, and Netflix sent its latest reminder to the press today.
It’s a pretty great poster, and a reminder that the worst from the Upside Down is yet to come. It’s got claws, horns, and…that’s about it from this viewpoint.
The fourth kid on the bike is a new character that will be introduced early in the season. We know one thing for sure — it definitely isn’t Barb. Executive producer Shawn Levy is growing tired of deflecting requests for her resurrection.
“People still think Barb’s alive….You think you want that, but you wouldn’t really want that. I’ve had a lot of people, some huge celebrities come up to me at these awards shows, like, ‘So, between us, Barb’s coming back, right?’ I’m like ‘No, you saw, she had like a creature, slug, worm, snake, coming out of her mouth. I don’t know that there’s a bounce back from that!’ So no, we are not going to cravenly service the wish-list of fans, we’re going to service the Duffer instincts and what they feel is the right story to tell.” So there!
Stranger Things Season 2 premieres October 27 on Netflix.
