Capcom announces new Strider game
At the San Diego Comic Con, Capcom has announced that developer Double Helix is currently in the works of making a new Strider game.
Strider tells the story of Hiryu, who is part of an elite group of assassins called Striders, receives orders to assassinate Grandmaster Meio, supreme dictator of Earth, who has plunged humanity into a dystopian dark age.
Capcom also says that the game will feature “ultra-responsive control system, with incredibly satisfying combat options in every traversal context such as standing, running, wall climbing, hanging, aerial and more”. On top of that, players will be able to fully explore the massive world of Kazakh City and the traditional level structure of the franchise has been replaced with a “retraceable world” as well as a ability upgrade system.
Double Helix has worked on games such as Silent Hill: Homecoming and Front Mission Evolved. The game will be a side scrolling non-linear action “metroidvania” game and the title will simply be called Strider. Fans of the series can expect to see the game launch in early 2014 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
