Activision has released a multiplayer starter pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops III, and it’s available now for only $14.99. This special starter pack is only going to be on sale through February 29. This starter pack version of the game is currently exclusive to Steam. This version basically overs players a way to play certain aspects of the game’s multiplayer mode, but some parts are also restricted.
Through the Multiplayer Starter Pack, players will not have access to the Zombies game mode or the regular Campaign mode. In addition, players will not have access to custom multiplayer matches or the ability to Prestige. Also, the level cap for the Multiplayer Starter Pack is 55. In terms of what it does offer, players can use the ranked matches, arena, freerun, the theater and weapon paint shop in multiplayer.
In addition, players can’t reset pre-existing stats either for this release. Steam is offering a discounted price of the game if Starter Pack players want to make the jump from the Starter Pack to the full game at $45.
Overall, this seems to be a nice way for Activision to let people sample the game at a reduced price. For some, there might not be a big attraction to those other gameplay modes for Call of Duty. This just seems to be another smart way to try and monetize the game and its highly lucrative multiplayer campaign.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III is currently available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC.
