Burnout Creators Spinning Off Crash Mode Into Its Own Game
Three Fields Entertainment, founded by a group of developers behind the studio that created the Burnout series, has revealed that they are creating a full game based on the infamous Crash Mode. Danger Zone will be set in a virtual crash testing factory, giving players the chance to see who can create the biggest wreck possible by causing the most damage.
Taking direct inspiration from the Burnout 3: Takedown Crash mode, players will have to crash their car into other vehicles and then try to chain further explosions and impacts together to create as much carnage as possible. There will be 20 different scenarios on offer, which include different locations and types of vehicle, meaning there will be plenty of variety.
“We are going back to our roots by creating a game in a genre we are truly passionate about,” said Fiona Sperry. “Danger Zone takes what made the Crash Mode featured in 2004’s Burnout 3: Takedown so popular and transforms it into an all-new car-crashing, arcade-style puzzle game.”
The game is due to release in May for PlayStation 4 and PC. It will cost $12.99 / £9.99. There’s no word yet on whether it will come to other platforms later in the year.
