Brad Pitt Thinks He Can Get Beetlejuice 2 Made
Ordinarily, when I hear rumors of a long-dead project like Beetlejuice 2 actually getting made, I would be skeptical….but now that we live in a world where Bill And Ted 3 got made AND didn’t suck, I’m willing to be a more open believer.
Beetlejuice 2 is one of the most infamously dormant sequel ideas in existence, with weak attempts like the Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian spec script out there for downloading (I’ve read it, it really is bad, and for some reason there’s a lot of drug humor). But someone — once the most desired male actor in Hollywood — thinks he can get a respectable version cooking. Brad Pitt is enlisting his production company Plan B to come up with a killer pitch.
So is Pitt playing Beetlejuice? That would be the biggest pivot Hollywood has ever seen and I’d be all for it — but no, Michael Keaton is interested in reprising the role. Winona Ryder also wants to play Lydia Deetz again. Those two didn’t exactly hit it off last time they met; wonder how that’ll work. There is no mention of Geena Davis or Alec Baldwin, but Baldwin has been in too many controversies lately to be considered, and who cared about the couple anyway? They never made it into the cartoon.
Pitt wants to pitch Beetlejuice 2 to Warner Bros soon, and if they accept, filming could begin as soon as this summer. Let’s boogie to Belafonte!
