Blink And You Might Miss This Infinity War Guest Star
We here at Popgeeks have no plans to spoil any of Avengers: Infinity War for you — we’ll leave that job to social media, other websites, and pretty much every other place online. There is a special cameo, however, that you might appreciate knowing about ahead of time.
When the movie gets to a scene in the Collector’s Museum (originally seen in Guardians of the Galaxy), have a look around. If you look quickly in one shot, to the left of Gamora you should be able to spot a blue man with a mustache wearing jean cut-offs. That’s correct…Tobias Funke, of all people, is in this movie.
And yes, it’s intended to be him. It’s not David Cross playing him, but the end credits contain the words “Character from Arrested Development appears courtesy of 20th Century Fox.” I was not aware of the cameo when I went to see the movie earlier today, and that bit of legal speak confused me. Alas, I missed spotting him. It may not be too late for you, however.
There’s actually a good reason Funke is there: Infinity War co-directors Joe Russo and Anthony Russo originally worked on Arrested Development together. They’ve actually hid an Easter Egg relating to the show in the MCU already: during Civil War, you can spot the Bluth stair-car in the background of one scene.
MCU diehards have been aware of the cameo since at least November, when it was spotted in a publicity shot and uploaded to Twitter with the cameo circled.
