Blade Runner Roleplaying Game Goes On Sale December 13
Last spring Free League announced they were working on a tabletop RPG set in the gritty, neon, rain-soaked, vaguely Japanese Blade Runner universe. They ran a Kickstarter last spring and proved there was demand, puling in over a million dollars on its first day. But if you missed that campaign, the RPG will be available to purchase for regular folks very soon.
In Blade Runner: The Roleplaying Game, each player will assume the role of a detective searching the rainy streets of cyberpunk LA, on the hunt for Replicants. Note that the Blade Runners can be either human or Replicant themselves. The game is set between the first and second movies, so around 2037 — shortly after the Wallace Corporation lets their new Nexus-9 models on the streets, much harder to tell the difference. All gameplay will stem from the Core Rulebook, written by Joe LeFavi, CEO of Genuine Entertainment. It’s included in the Starter Set and here’s what else you’ll find inside:
- A 80-page condensed rulebook.
- The 56-page booklet Electric Dreams – the first full-length Case File for Blade Runners to crack.
- Four pre-generated characters to play.
- A huge full color map of Los Angeles in 2037.
- 26 full-color evidence handouts for the players, including crime scene photos, data files, documents, maps, and more.
- A custom manila envelope for the players to keep their evidence in.
- A Time Tracker Sheet.
- 70 high quality custom cards for non-player characters, chase maneuvers and obstacles, and initiative in combat.
- Eight engraved, transparent custom dice – two each of D6, D8, D10 and D12.
Free League will be showing off the Blade Runner Roleplaying Game at multiple locations this weekend: PAX Unplugged in Philadelphia, Los Angeles Comic-Con, and Dragonmeet in the UK. (Yes, all those events happen at the same time.) The game will be officially out for sale December 13.
