Black Friday: Gamestop’s Sales And Offerings
Gamestop was the last major retail outlet to release their flyer and reveal their Black Friday prices. This was probably because the last-minute cancellation of their PowerPass program required a complete revision and reprint of the flyer. But they made it before the deadline, and better late than never.
As it is everywhere else, the 1 TB Playstation 4 is $199. We now know this discount was made on Sony’s end and affects all stores nationwide no matter what brand hangs above their door. In fact, the discount is in effect right now, so you could beat the crowds if you wanted to. We’ll wait.
But Gamestop is also discounting the Playstation 4 Pro — and they’re the only retail outlet to do so this year. You can get the 1 TB Pro for $349.99, a savings of $50 from MSRP. Gamestop will also sell the XBox One S for $189, and controllers for both for $40, but so will everyone else.
As far as games are concerned, there are some deals at Gamestop that are unique. NBA 2K18, Madden NFL 18 and FIFA 18 are all $27, and so is Destiny 2. Persona 5 is half off at $30 and Yakuza 0 is also $30. Injustice 2 is $14 (normal price is $50) and Dishonored: Death of the Outsider is $15 (this is the only place we’ve seen this game on sale). Prey is $20, and new titles The Evil Within 2, Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, and Middle-earth: Shadow of War are all $25.
Some of the less-in-demand Switch games are on sale: Sonic Forces is $30 and Rayman Legends is $20. Batman: The Telltale Series is $20 and Bomberman R is $30. Gamestop is cleaning out its Wii U inventory with first-party titles half-off, such as Smash Bros, Mario Maker, Mario Kart and Splatoon for $30 (I should point out the latter two have Switch updates/sequels and so there’s probably not much online activity for the Wii U versions of either right now).
As Gamestop has been staring into the digital future, it’s been replacing a big chunk of its physical game real estate with geek-related merch and figures. Much of that inventory will be reduced to $10 on Black Friday as long as it’s 8 inches tall or smaller. They’re also offering their usual “Buy Two, Get One Free” deal that covers both used games and peripherals.
