Berserk Returns to Video Games!
Omega Force and Koei Tecmo America have unveiled a new project, a new video game based on the celebrated anime and manga series Berserk. You can check out the reveal trailer in the player below. Berserk is based on the darker than dark fantasy manga series created by Kentaro Miura.
Omega Force recently had a lot of success working on another licensed series in Hyrule Warriors for The Legend of Zelda. That being said, Berserk appears to be a great fit for Omega Force’s style. Berserk will be in the style of the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors games from Omega Force. According to the announcement, this will be the “most lethal Warriors game.” Considering this is based on the Berserk series, that makes a lot of sense.
Berserk is a long-running manga series that first debuted in 1989, and it’s still running today. However, it’s sometimes frustrated fans with its blisteringly slow pace. Berserk games have been made in the past for PlayStation 2 and even the SEGA Dreamcast. Getting a new next-gen Berserk game seems rather appropriate at this point. The story follows a swordsman named Guts who is on a quest for revenge against his former military leader Griffith. The manga became an anime series in the late 1990s that became quite popular in the US. In addition, some new anime movies were recently made based on the Band of the Hawk era of the manga.
The trailer is a bit suggestive. It’s very much a teaser, but it does reveal the famous Cursed Seal given to sacrifices for the terrible Eclipses caused by Behelit in the story. There isn’t even a final title yet for the game as it’s listed under “Berserk [Working Title].” The release date and console details for Berserk will be revealed later on.
