Beastars Season 2 trailer!

The trailer of the second season of BEASTars got released today. This one of a kind Shounen is one of the biggest hits of 2019. It proved that a series about anthropomorphic animals still have a market. The author of this hit is Paru Itagaki. She is the daughter of the legendary Keisuke Itagaki, maker of the Legendary series, Baki the Grappler. She is proof that talent goes into the family.

This anime has a lot of comparisons with Zootopia. These two stories are both set in a world of Anthropomorphic animals that lives in a Metropolis. Zootopia is about the friendship of a Fox and a Rabbit. Beastars, on the other hand, tackles the star-crossed romance between a Wolf named Legosi and a White dwarf rabbit named Haru. They are students of Cherryton Academy. A University where Carnivores and Herbivores live peacefully together until a mysterious carnivore devoured Tem, A Llama, who is Legosi’s close friend. His death will cause a lot of tension in the once peaceful University.

The plot of this anime fits with the current political climate. The tension and division between Carnivores and Herbivores are similar to the racial and class divide. Legosi’s struggle with his meat craving can is like the struggles of a person with mental health issues and addiction. The treatment of other girls to Haru is an allegory to bullying and slut-shaming. Legosi and Haru’s relationship struggles are relatable to interracial couples.

The New Trailer shows some flashbacks from the first season, like when Legosi saved Haru from the Lions. Louis, the deer who is the 3rd main character and ex-boyfriend of Haru, is also shown to have inner struggles.

It also introduces new faces like Rokume, A female snake who works as a security guard. She seemed to be in a battle against Legosi. The trailer also showed some clues on who killed Tem. 2021 is the projected release date of Season 2.
