Ash vs Evil Dead Canceled
After three seasons, Ash Vs Evil Dead has been
canceled by Starz.
Horror fans everywhere know of the Evil Dead Franchise as one that while not originally a dark comedy, has set the standard for the genre. With four movies and a television series the franchise has done well for itself since its independent beginnings. However, a nail in the coffin has been set. As the tv series, Ash vs Evil Dead has been canceled after three seasons by Starz.
The series follows Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell), Pedro (Ray Santiago), and Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo) as they fight the demonic and undead forces unleashed by the Necronomicon.
The franchise itself started on October 15th, 1981 with the release of The Evil Dead. The original film is much darker than later installments and was independently made with a short film also being made as a prototype to get investors for the now horror classic. Evil Dead 2 retold the first movie and added to it, though as a dark comedy. This continued with the sequel, Army of Darkness. Then in 2013 a remake was made and was met with mixed reception. But going back to the franchise’s darker tone.
The plot of the first film is that five college students go to a cabin in the middle of the woods to have a night of drinking, drugs, and sex. While there they stumble across an audio recording that when played, unleashes an unknown evil from the Necronomicon.
Ash vs Evil Dead can be found on Netflix. Season three’s release on the platform is not known at this time.
