Alien 5 Looking Less Likely To Happen
Once upon a time, director Neill Blomkamp created several pieces of Alien-related concept art and posted them online. They depicted a new Alien sequel that continued the story told out in Alien and Aliens while ignoring all else. They featured Ripley in some kind of Xeno-suit and the return of Hicks and a grown-up Newt. The art looked amazing, and 20th Century Fox contacted Blomkamp about possibly making it a real movie.
And that might’ve happened if Ridley Scott, director of the original film, hadn’t returned to make more Alien movies himself. Alien: Covenant, a film taking place in between Prometheus and the original Alien, was announced instead. Blomkamp has said that his movie would go into production after Scott was finished…but what if Scott doesn’t get finished? What if he just wants to keep making these mediocre prequels?
That’s what Blomkamp implied on Twitter today. Despite enthusiastic comments from himself, Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn, all willing to jump back in, it looks like Scott is standing in the way.

All I can say, Mr. Scott, is that this better be the best darn Alien movie in the entire world, so good that it could make us forget about wanting to ever see Ripley again or wanting to see grown-up Newt outside of a 1980’s Dark Horse comic. And good luck overcoming that hurdle.

It wasn’t fan art, it was actual concept art he had made.
