UDON Entertainment, longtime publisher of material about fighters and the streets they prowl, has announced Street Fighter Masters: Akuma Vs Ryu for next February.
What’s the most basic setup for a Street Fighter story? Fighting, basically. UDON’s latest SF comic gets down to the essentials with the main point of interest being a match between two of the game’s veteran characters: Ryu and Akuma. The reason they have for doing this has yet to be revealed, but UDON is hyping it up like a pro wrestling announcer:
Throughout the history of Street Fighter, this ultimate rivalry has raged! Now, the final fight will reach its epic conclusion! AKUMA! RYU! Both of these tortured World Warriors are now at the peak of their power, weilding unimaginable abilities. When the dust settles on this battle, only one fighter will be able to plant his feet on the Earth to fight another day…
Street Fighter Masters: Akuma vs. Ryu #1 (there will only be one) will feature art by Kenneth Loh (G.I Joe, Metal Gear Solid, Rambo) based around a story by Ken Siu-Chong. Details of the story are light, like we said, but it’s meant to take place within the continuity of the latest SF game, Street Fighter 6.
And there will be FIVE covers…

Ryu patiently sits and waits for the oncoming battle, unaware Akuma is right freaking behind him.

Ryu powers up his famous HADOUUUUUKEN!

Akuma unleashes his flaming fists.

Whole LOT of aggression going on in this one.

The “sketch cover.” Your drawing can be in any color, as long as you like red.
Wait, did we say five covers? We meant SEVEN….

The UDON Store is selling two exclusive covers depicting Sakura, a character who probably isn’t in the comic, striking a selfie after swimming. There will also be a rarer variant limited to 250 copies where Sakura is slightly sunburnt.

Up to you which one you go with (but you better have cash handy for the Sakura variants). Street Fighter Masters: Akuma Vs Ryu will be out this February.
