ABC Finally Releases Primetime Fall 2020 Schedule
We said when NBC released their month-overdue fall schedule that ABC wouldn’t be far behind, and it has come to pass. With this news, we now know the entirety of the network lineup this fall, though it is subject to change more now than ever before.
Like NBC, ABC has unfortunately cut back on its comedy lineup, reducing sitcoms to just one day instead of two. You would think we could use a laugh, huh? Nevertheless they’ve replaced their departing comedies with nothing…only long-time veterans like The Goldbergs remain.

While Stumptown fans managed to get the second season renewal they desired, others weren’t so lucky. It may surprise you, but by far the most vocal response to a cancellation this month has been for The Baker And The Beauty, a rom-com ABC barely promoted and quickly burned off in two months. It never gained high ratings (for…some reason), but it did manage to attract a loyal army of fans who are now trying to get the show picked up elsewhere.
Perhaps the weirdest part of this new schedule is the placement of Supermarket Sweep, an hour-long game show, in the prime Sunday 8 PM slot. Traditionally this is one of the most valuable and viewed slots in the lineup, and to see it go to a game show at a time when it ISN’T the summer just feels off. And before you bring this up, the revival of Supermarket Sweep was in the works BEFORE the pandemic hit.
Speaking of that…ABC was more forthcoming than NBC about complications. They admitted that just because this schedule has “FALL 2020” written on it doesn’t mean the shows will start the moment fall hits. It may be October, it may be November, but it’ll be sometime.
