Vinland Saga Season 2 Premieres On Crunchyroll

-

Vinland Saga, the brutal epic set a millennium ago in the Jutland peninsula of Denmark, returns today for another full season of kicks, punches and flying severed limbs.

The first season of Vinland Saga introduced viewers to Torfinn. Throughout the season, Torfinn’s only goal was to kill his archenemy Askeladd, the man who murdered his father. As Season 2 opens (spoilers for Season 1), Askeladd is finally dead, but Torfinn didn’t do the deed. Denied his revenge, the man now wonders what his purpose is. Someone else thought “your purpose is to be my slave,” so he’s captured by landowner Ketil and forced to toil on his farmland. But there, Torfinn meets Einar, a fellow slave who convinces him to find new meaning. While that’s going on, Canute has been crowned King of England and is setting his sights on Demnark as part of his empire. Torfinn won’t find peace for long.

The Japanese cast of Vinland Saga includes Yuto Uemura as Thorfinn, Shunsuke Takeuchi as Einar and Kensho Ono as Canute, along with Mayumi Sako as Arnheid, Yu Hayashi as Olmar, Hideaki Tezuka as Ketil, Taiten Kusunoki as Thorgil, Fuminori Komatsu as Snake, Mugihito as Sverkel, Yoji Ueda as Leif and Akio Otsuka as Thorkel. The animation was handled by Studio MAPPA, taking over from Wit Studio who animated Season 1.

Not only does the second season of Vinland Saga premiere today, but the entire first season has been made available on Crunchyroll for the first time. Check them both out today.
