The Great Ace Attorney Makes His Journey West

Capcom’s Ace Attorney series has been around for a while, and while most of the titles have been released in other countries, there are several games that never made it outside Japan. Two of those are the “Great Ace Attorney” spinoff series, which is a prequel set in the Victorian era starring Phoenix Wright’s ancestor Ryunosuke Naruhodo. The first “Great” game came out in 2015 on the 3DS and its sequel was released two years later. It’s a little too late to be releasing things on 3DS….good thing a Switch port is in the works.

And it won’t be just Switch…Playstation 4 and the PC are also getting their own versions. And they’re all coming here, in English….in one volume, The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles.

Set in the late 19^th century during Japan’s Meiji Period and England’s Victorian era, The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles follows Ryunosuke Naruhodo as he works to sleuth out the truth in witnesses’ testimonies and clear his clients’ names in court. Players will unravel the mysteries behind 10 thrilling cases alongside a zany cast of over-the-top characters – including the local ace detective Herlock Sholmes.

Yes, it says “Herlock Sholmes.” I love the Ace Attorney localization department.

The Great Ace Attorney will be released July 27 for Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC. There will even be a physical version….and it’s been a while since we’ve been able to say that about Ace Attorney!
