The CW Greenlights Three Pilots Including Gotham Knights

-

A couple months ago we told you about Gotham Knights, another “Batman Minus Batman” show WB was considering making for The CW. At the time it was just a proposed idea, but it just came one step closer to happening. The CW has greenlit the production of a pilot episode.

As we said before, the premise of Gotham Knights is that Bruce Wayne has been murdered, and his adopted son has been framed for the crime — and they are still not revealing which son that is. Batman’s been around for a long time and has gone through multiple wards….this could be either Tim Drake, Jason Todd, Dick Grayson or Damien Wayne, who isn’t adopted and is Wayne’s legitimate kid but he’s not out of the running here.

Also co-framed for the murder are the children of Gotham’s former villains Batman defeated. Unidentified Adopted Wayne Person will have to form uneasy alliances with them to take down their common enemy….but who could it be? Cue season-long search for answers. That’s Gotham Knights in a nutshell.

Keep in mind EVEN with a pilot order the show could still not happen. Remember that whole mess when the network tried to make a hideous live-action “update” of The Powerpuff Girls? It depends on how this pilot turns out. There will also be no “sneaking it in” as a bonus episode of Batwoman — that show has just two remaining episodes this season, and Gotham Knights is said to be a separate continuity (that will confuse viewers for sure).

The CW ordered two other pilots today: The Winchesters, a Supernatural prequel about Sam and Dean’s parents (we’re still peeved about not getting Wayward Sisters) and a Walker spinoff because, believe it or not, Walker is one of the most watched shows on the channel.
