The Best Trailers From Netflix’s TUDUM Event

Netflic is trying something different: instead of releasing trailers for their upcoming shows one at a time, like they normally do, they pooled a bunch of their heaviest hitters together and released all their trailers at once in an event they’ve dubbed TUDUM, after the noise Netflix makes when you turn it on. I personally would have found another name, as TUDUM looks dangerously close to TEDIUM, but we’ll have to save that snark for another day. We got a decent amount of valuable news out of this.

Many, many trailers were released this morning, but we’ll curate the lineup to what would interest a typical reader of this place most. If you want Emily in Paris, check some other site.

Now obviously we’d get a peek at Stranger Things 4, and OBVIOUSLY it’d be a huge trailer covering the whole season and it would at last give us a release date, right? ….Think again! We’re still in teaser territory, and the date is still a vague “2022.” But here is one new element no previous season had: the spooky, abandoned Creel House. It seems connected to the Upside Down in some way, but no one outside of Netflix HQ knows exactly how.

The live-action Cowboy Bebop inches ever closer to its November 19 release date, and though they STILL won’t show us a single clip from the series, they’ve at least finished the title sequence. It’s basically the same as the animated version (which was a wise choice….how can you improve on perfection?) Ed is absent, though….again. Should we be worried? Someone put forth the theory that Ed could be taking a different form in this adaption, like she’s the robot AI of the Bebop or something. We wouldn’t like that very much. Give us our crazy be-goggled genius; we’re owed that much.

Celebrate the new year with Johnny and Daniel as Season 4 of Cobra Kai debuts on December 31. This time, they have to learn to work together, as Kreese has completely taken over the Cobra Kai dojo and plans to dominate the All Valley Tournament unless he can be stopped! Netflix also confirmed a renewal for Season 5.

Season 2 of The Witcher will premiere December 17. Now that Geralt has finally tracked down the young princess he’s been sworn to protect, the true challenge begins: actually protecting her. Geralt also can’t keep Yennefer of Vengerberg off his mind, though he believes she died in the explosion at Sodden (she did not). Netflix confirmed a third season renewal today, as well as a second anime movie in the style of last summer’s Nightmare of the Wolf.

Finally, Lucifer may be ending, but it’s time for a REAL Neil Gaiman adaption (sorry, fans). The long, long, long-awaited adaption of The Sandman will star Tom Sturridge as Morpheus, Dream of the Endless. The show will also star Gwendolyn Christie as Lucifer, Charles Dance as Roderick Burgess, Boyd Holbrook as The Corinthian, Patton Oswalt as the voice of Matthew the Raven, Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death, Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine, Joely Richardson as Ethel Cripps and David Thewlis as John Dee. Gaiman himself is involved — he’s the co-writer and also serves as executive producer.
