Terminator Zero official announced by Netflix

-

Get ready for a new chapter in the fight against the machines! Terminator Zero, the official anime series from Netflix, has just launched its trailer. This innovative take on the Terminator franchise promises to be a thrilling addition to the sci-fi genre. While the Terminator universe has held audiences in its grip for decades across blockbuster films, gripping video games, and even television series, it’s surprisingly never ventured into the realm of animation. Terminator Zero breaks new ground, offering a fresh perspective on the war between humanity and Skynet through the lens of stunning anime visuals.

I remember Sonoya Mizuno playing the role of a robot in Ex Machina. Now, in this anime series, she plays Eiko, a freedom fighter who fights for human survival against Skynet’s Terminators. The show is set in an alternate, nightmarish version of 2022. Joining her in the cast are Timothy Olyphant, from the underrated and wrongfully cancelled Netflix show Santa Clarita Diet. He is the Terminator of this series, a different model from Arnold’s. Rosario Dawson (known for her roles in films like Rent, Sin City, and Zombieland) plays Kororo, and Andre Holland plays Malcolm Lee. We will get to see the perspective of people in the Terminator universe who are not Sarah or John Connor.

The Terminator franchise teetered on the brink of extinction for fans after the critical and commercial disappointment of Terminator Genisys. However, Terminator Zero, the new Netflix anime series, might just be the spark that reignites the franchise.
