“Surely Tomorrow” is a 2025 Korean drama, 12 episodes, categorized as Romance, and Comedy (Rom-Com), and streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

SUMMARY: Keep the first love a nice memory or make a new memory.

The Stubborn Persistence of First Love

“Surely Tomorrow” follows the intertwined, emotionally fraught lives of Lee Kyeong-Do and Seo Ji-Woo, lovers whose relationship has been tested by time, fate, and scandal.

Lee Kyeong-Do and Seo Ji-Woo first fall in love in their early twenties, experiencing the hope, intensity, and innocence of first love. But as young love sometimes does, their relationship ends. Life, ambition, or diverging paths pull them apart. Years later, now in their late twenties, they cross paths again and attempt to give their romance a second chance. This second relationship also fails, the reasons aren’t simply time or misunderstanding, but deeper issues and perhaps unresolved baggage from their past.

After their second breakup, they head into completely separate directions. Lee Kyeong-Do pursues a career in journalism; Seo Ji-Woo builds her own life. Time passes, and both try to move on.

Then fate intervenes again, and this time under circumstances neither expected. Lee Kyeong-Do, now a reporter assigned to cover a sensational extramarital-affair scandal. When he digs into the details, he discovers the scandal’s central figure is Seo Ji-Woo’s husband. Worse: Seo Ji-Woo is caught up in public scrutiny, humiliation, and social stigma as the wife of a man publicly exposed for infidelity. The professional demands of Lee Kyeong-Do’s job and the intensely personal fallout for Seo Ji-Woo force both to confront painful memories, past decisions, and the raw wounds they thought had healed.

As media pressure mounts and societal judgment looms over Seo Ji-Woo, Lee Kyeong-Do faces a conflict: as a reporter, he must report the truth, but as a former lover, he knows the woman behind the headlines intimately. For Seo Ji-Woo, old feelings for Lee Kyeong-Do resurface. He was the only person who had loved her for herself.

But look at where they are now. Their reunion is filled with regret, public scandal, personal pain, and societal pressure. Plus nostalgia thinking about the way they were, and now wondering if life is offering them a second chance at romance.

Viewership and Rating:

My personal rating is the same as MDL.

Surely Tomorrow” is not my cup of tea. The memorable quote turned me off. I didn’t like the female lead, and I didn’t like her crude speech. It wasn’t cute or charming.
