Superman And Lois Fires Everyone Except Superman And Lois

-

Yesterday The CW made the surprise announcement that it was renewing Warner Bros‘ Superman And Lois for a fourth season, despite having no money. It was speculated that the show would undergo a budget reduction to make this possible, which would include a culling of the regular cast members. And wow, they sure did. 24 hours later, every actor except five has been given pink slips.

Tyler Hoechlin (Clark Kent/Superman), Elizabeth Tulloch (Lois Lane), Alex Garfin (Jordan Kent) and Michael Bishop (Jonathan Kent) are remaining, and Michael Cudlitz (Lex Luthor) is being promoted to regular after guest-starring in the last few episodes of the current season. Anyone who isn’t those five no longer has a steady job: Dylan Walsh (General Sam Lane), Emmanuelle Chriqui (Mayor Lana Lang), Erik Valdez (Kyle Cushing), Inde Navarrette (Sarah Lang), WolĂ© Parks (John Henry Irons), Tayler Buck (Natalie Irons) and Sofia Hasmik (Chrissy Beppo).

We have no idea how this is supposed to work either. We presume they can’t build new sets, so will the Smallville streets just be completely empty? Deadline reports that the hope is many of those actors will agree to take guest-star or recurring roles, so they wouldn’t be completely gone…just curiously absent sometimes. That’s a pay cut though and they are not under obligation to take it.

This all could have been avoided if Max would have picked up the series like they should have. It would be the same order of episodes (ten) and they would’ve had the budget to make somewhat of a show out of this. But as it stands it’s anyone’s guess what we’re getting.
