In case you didn’t hear, Scott Pilgrim is coming back…the game version, that is. Most of the original creative team from 2010’s Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game have reunited under a new brand, Tribute Games, and are now hard at work on a sequel. Scott Pilgrim EX was announced last month and its physical editions were revealed (and put up for preorder) over the weekend.
Since the first game adapted the books and movie pretty thoroughly, this new one is going to have to come up with its own reason for being. Series creator Bryan Lee O’Malley was brought in to whip up a new story, in which Toronto is being terrorized by robots and demons (and vegans). That’s all we know at this early point — we’d ask “why” these things are occurring but we recall that in the Scott Pilgrim world, stuff just happens. Scott Pilgrim EX will be an 8-bit-styled brawler much like the first, with seven playable characters to choose from — Tribute has only revealed Scott and Ramona so far.
What we do know is that there won’t be just one physical edition of Scott Pilgrim EX, there’ll be several, starting with the Standard Edition for $39.99. If you want the game physical but don’t care about the extras, this is the option to go with. Comes with a reversible cover printed on luminous foil.
For the more “adventurous” types there’s the Deluxe Edition, which comes with a tie-in comic by Bryan Lee O’Malley, the soundtrack by Anamanaguchi on CD, and a deluxe box with reversible cover art by illustrator Matias Bergara. That stuff costs $64.99, but if it’s not enough…

You’ll have to wait a while if you buy any of these preorders, which is par for the course with Limited Run but is especially true here — the game has no announced release date beyond a 2026 promise. LRG estimates they will ship in February, for what it’s worth.
