Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad Game Was Live For About An Hour Today

-

You may have heard about Rocksteady Studios‘ Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, the multiplayer co-op game where DC’s greatest heroes become mind-controlled and go bad, driving Amanda Waller to summon Harley Quinn and King Shark to stop them. It’s been hyped for a long time, but lately, the only news coming out about it is negative. Members of the press who have previewed the game have not walked away with good impressions, and WB Games is refusing to send out review codes prior to the game’s launch February 2….which usually means the publisher has a turkey on their hands.

Further evidence of Suicide Squad’s turkeyness was exposed today when the game went semi-live for those who pre-ordered the game’s Deluxe Edition. The promise was that they’d get to download and play the title 72 hours early, but currently, they can’t play it at all. Or maybe they already played it and didn’t know it.

The servers for Suicide Squad were shut down an hour into launch due to a strange bug that auto-completed everyone’s save files. If someone quit the game and returned to it, they would be greeted with the message that the story campaign had been completed. Achievement Trophy Unlocked! While the team deals with this, no one can play Suicide Squad no matter how much they paid for the privilege.

The real tragedy here is that Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League will be the final posthumous appearance of Kevin Conroy’s Batman. Conroy recorded all his lines while he was still alive, to give you an idea of how long this has been in development, and it makes for a lousy end to what will be the defining voice of the Dark Knight for all eternity. The man deserves better, ya know?

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League will still be released for Playstation 5, XBox Series X and PC on February 2.
