♦ I Will Have My Revenge in My Next Life

In “Reborn Rich”, Yoon Hyeon-Woo was a lawyer for the Soonyang Conglomerate family. You could not find a more faithful lapdog. For 10 years, he did everything they asked of him and even more. He discovered information that indicated “someone” had been siphoning money and secretly sending it out of the country. When he informed the manager in charge of the business finances, the manager destroyed the evidence. But Yoon Hyeon-Woo had already made electronic copies of the documents.

He took the matter a step further and informed the newly appointed successor, the chaebol heir. The heir gave him a mission. He was to travel overseas, retrieve the money that had been stolen, and bring it back. He retrieved the money, but before he could bring it back, someone in the family betrayed him and stole the money from him. Then – to ensure that he never came back to expose the dirty deed – he was brutally murdered.

This is The End. Those were probably his final thoughts before dying. But his next thoughts after death were: “Who am I and where am I?”

Yoon Hyeon-Woo is baffled, shocked, dazed, and confused. He has his mind, his thoughts, his memories of his previous life. However, he is in the body of a young boy who is riding in the back seat of a car with another young boy and there are two adults in the front seat – a woman and a man. The man is driving the car. He thinks he recognizes the woman because he has seen her before but she was older. Now she is younger and … what’s going on? (O.o)

He finally realizes that he is no longer Yoon Hyeon-Woo and that the year is 1987. He is now Jin Do-Jun, the family’s youngest grandson. So …??? … was he reincarnated AND he time-traveled back to the past? So …??? … he knows a lot about this family already because much has been written about them. But are they made-up stories OR real true stories? He begins to realize that they are records of true events. The thing is … he doesn’t know much about the youngest grandson. Why is information about him missing?

Did something happen to the youngest grandson? When he was a lawyer, before his brutal death 20 years in the future, he only knew what he read about the family in biographical reports. Now he’s talking face to face with the man responsible for the success of the Soonyang semiconductor business, his grandfather. He is the grandson who was somehow erased from the family history. (???)

But he doesn’t have the thoughts and memories of the grandson. He has his own memories PLUS the knowledge of future events. Perhaps he can prevent his murder. Perhaps … perhaps … perhaps he can change a lot of things about this wicked family that betrayed him. He’s not the lackey lawyer anymore. He’s the youngest grandson who might be able to change the family’s fortune in his favor.

“Reborn Rich”, in my humble opinion, is a very good series. No spoilers. But some were dissatisfied with the ending. Some were surprised about it. Ah well! You can’t please everybody! Just the fact that the guy got to return and become a prominent member of that evil family was satisfying enough for me! His violent death at their hands was way too unfair! There had to be some form of justice.
