Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous Launches Alpha Test Ahead Of Schedule

-

The classic tabletop RPG Pathfinder is coming to PC monitors…..again! After the success of Pathfinder: Kingmaker, creator Owlcat Games is working on a sequel….Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous. The crowdfunding campaign lasted a little over a month and ended with over two million dollars raised.

Those who pledged enough dough to secure testing access will be pleased to learn Owlcat has decided to launch the alpha earlier than originally planned. From now until May 21 you can experience the first two chapters of the game and try out six new classes, ten new companions, and some of the stretch goal content including mounted combat, increased reactivity for companions and a meeting with a new companion named Woljif Jefto.

Missed the Kickstarter and don’t want to wait for the commercial release? No problem. Owlcat will still let you pledge through their official website, and give you an alpha ticket if you add an extra $15.

Like its predecessor, Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous translates the mechanics of the tabletop game into a video game format, while adding a few extra touches of its own. Your ultimate goal in the game is to take back the city of Drezen, which has been conquered by demonic forces. This will take some effort as the walls are heavily fortified and you’re dealing with limited resources. To improve your chances of winning the war, you’ll need to strike alliances, but who can you really trust?

“This is a significant moment for us – it will show us if we are on the right track,” says Oleg Shpilchevskiy, Owlcat Games’ Head of Studio. “Moreover, a lot of the new features we’ve included were funded as stretch goals during our Kickstarter campaign. It’s time to show our progress on some of them, and I hope the backers will be happy with what they see.”

The alpha test will last until May 21, and Owlcat will provide further updates in the coming months ahead.
