Our Favorite Game Awards Trailers And Moments

-

Depending on what you’re talking about, the 2026 Game Awards were either full of surprises or the least surprising ever. If you want to talk about the ceremony itself, it was incredibly predictable, with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 performing a clean sweep, parrying all competitors and winning almost every category it was nominated for. It was a year of tough competition, but there was always one clear frontrunner.

But in terms of trailers….there were surprises galore, even with the leaks. A lot of games no one ever heard of, unannounced comebacks, and more were unveiled last night. Here are some of our favorites…

The first thing they showed us at The Game Awards was….a dog. Not a flashy FPS or action game or Soulslike or roguelike or….just a chill-looking game about a sheep dog. And believe it or not, it has our full attention. Should be out for consoles and PC in 2o27.

The wild swings didn’t stop there. We haven’t seen much like Stupid Never Dies, the musical love story of a cheerleader and a zombie boy, coming from new studio GPTRACK50, made up of Devil May Cry, Dragon’s Dogma, and Resident Evil veterans. It should be out sometime next year on PS5 and PC. (As a sign of things to come, several developers seem to be skipping XBox versions of their games.)

There’s already an article up about these, so we won’t dwell on it long, but after a drought lasting years, Crustal Dnyamics will make up for lost time with TWO Tomb Raider games. Granted, one is the 87th remake of the first game, but still. Legacy of Atlantis will be released in 2026 and Tomb Raider Catalyst, the first continuation of the story since 2008, will follow in 2027.

We loved this the moment we saw it. A platformer making fun of the games industry? Looks great! Bradley The Badger comes out for PC in 2026; no word on console versions yet.

The success of Hazelight Studios’ co-op games seems to have inspired more of them from other studios — and they’re using some inventive visuals to do so. Orbitals has the appearance of a 1980s anime sci-fi series, while Out Of Words uses a faux stop-motion style. Look for them soon.

Finally Mega Man is returning after a long hiatus to do what he does best — kick Wily’s butt across lots of sidescrolling 2D levels. Believe it or not though we’re looking at something that will take until 2027 to complete.
