Minx is an upcoming Comedy for HBO Max, and this could be a potential quality feminist content. Joyce is an aspiring Magazine editor from the 1970s who wants to empower women. She tried to Pitch her concept of a Magazine called Matriarchy Awakens, but Publishers declined her idea. The women’s rights movement are still in its infancy during the 1970s. In the view of Toxic Masculinity, the concept she proposes will not sell copies. Her ambition is to create a magazine that will empower women who believe they are being treated as second-class citizens and breakthrough glass barriers.
Joyce (Ophelia Lovibond ) is disheartened by the rejection, but there is still hope. The aspiring editor meets the sleazy publisher Joe(Jake Johnson). Joe is not her ideal boss to work for, but he is the only one willing to hear her proposals. There is a catch, though. She has to make the magazine palatable to the market.
Joe told her that he had covered medicine in peanut butter before feeding it to a dog. She needs to implement a lure to make her aspirations of establishing a magazine that emphasizes the plight of women from a patriarchal world. Her target market is women, and if there’s anything that can attract women, it’s naked lads. Joyce will have to establish the first erotic Magazine explicitly aimed at women. There are articles behind those steamy photoshoots of sweaty manliness that make women realize their freedoms and significance. She did not want to compromise her values, but she had to make adjustments for her dream to happen.
Her Magazine will become a stellar seller, but she will have to deal with the judgement of the conservatives. To make it worst, she will find out that her business is involved with the mob. Back in the 1970s, many Porn publishers got protection from the Mafia. You can catch Minx at HBO Max this coming March 17, 2022.
