Made In NY Program Rewards Everyrealm

The New York City Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOMA) has announced the first recipient of their new “Made in NY” program. The program is designed to support and boost indie digital games that are created within NYC and its surrounding areas.

The winner of the first Made In NY is Everyrealm, a technology company now working on their upcoming game “RU1.” This program offers free advertising to companies that commit most of their production costs locally, in exchange for a donation to a non-profit of their choice. Everyrealm will be donating to Games for Change, a NYC outfit focused on using games to help real-world causes.

“The support we receive from the games community in our home base in New York City has enabled Games for Change to build a global community dedicated to the idea that games can be used for social good,” said Susanna Pollack, President of Games for Change. “We’re grateful to Everyrealm for their support of Games for Change’s mission, and to MOME for finding new ways to recognize the impact and innovation of the games industry in NYC.”

To qualify for Made In NY, at least 75% of a game’s production costs must be spent in NYC, with total production costs totaling at least $100,000. NYC-based game companies seeking more information can visit nyc.gov/digitalgames for details on how to apply.
