In “Knight Flower”, there is a mysterious masked figure dressed in black who is only seen at night, performing good deeds. Those who enforce the law may want to capture this person for working “outside of the law”. However, the people want to protect them because they have received only mercy, goodness, and kindness from him … ?? … or … her?
Park Soo-Ho, a police captain, sent his assistant officer out to dig up some information about this mysterious figure in black. The officer came back saying this person was like the “legendary Midam”. They appear at night, flying across rooftops, bringing food to the poor, etc. In other words, an unreal person, the stuff of myths, folklore, and legends.
But Park Soo-Ho knows that the masked figure is real because he has had a physical encounter with that person face-to-face. The encounter was close enough for him to know that the “man in black” is a woman. But why is a woman appearing only at night, dressed in black clothing like a man, wearing a mask, fighting with exceptional martial arts skills, and confronting lawbreakers?
“Knight Flower” does not leave it up to the viewer to guess. The main character, Jo Yeo-Hwa, is the legendary Midam, a real woman. It’s devastating to become a widow before you have ever even begun to live your life. What’s worse is when the customs and traditions of the country you live in tie your hands to the point where you can’t accomplish anything of meaning or value in your life for yourself or for anyone else. It’s as if you simply must waste your life away.
Jo Yeo-Hwa has been a widow for 15 years. Even though people have hinted that she should have committed suicide and followed after her husband, she chooses to live. There are two good reasons why she should stay alive.
As much as Jo Yeo-Hwa tries to avoid having contact with Park Soo-ho, they keep encountering each other. Sometimes she is dressed as herself, a widow, and sometimes she is in disguise as the masked hero. Park Soo-ho has seen the masked figure in action and can’t say that their actions were “unlawful” or “wrong”. However, he is a dedicated officer who performs his duties by the book.
The two main characters had good onscreen chemistry.
In addition, the storyline was written for those who love when a person can find a way to do good for others regardless of their circumstances.
My personal rating is the same as the Viki viewing audience; 9.3 out of 10 stars.
